  • First private sector operated passenger rail contract in the country
  • Won rail contract for services to 2020

Arriva began operating passenger rail services in the Kujawsko Pomorskie region in north-west Poland in 2007 in the first private sector operated passenger rail contract of its type in Poland.

In 2010, the contract was re-won by Arriva for a further 10 years. The contract includes an additional rail line, increasing Arriva’s annual kilometres operated in Poland by up to 15 per cent from 2011.

The rail contract serves some 100 stations and in 2010 carried around three million passengers and operated around two million kilometres.

Our growth in Poland

2010
In December, Arriva was awarded a 10 year regional rail contract in the Kujawsko Pomorskie region of Poland. The contract extends operations that have been run by Arriva for the past three years in Poland and increases annual kilometres operated by up to 15 per cent.

In June, Arriva acquired its joint venture partner’s 50 per cent share in Arriva PCC. The company, renamed Arriva RP, is now fully owned by Arriva.

2007
Arriva and joint venture partners PCC Rail began the first private sector operated passenger rail contract in Poland.
